#TravelTuesday – Exploring the World with Absolutely Lucy

Last week, I traveled to a small town 70 miles from my city. The weather was pleasant; cloudy but not yielding to rain. There was a light breeze in my face as I rode down the highway in a rented motorcycle.

This is the age of wanderers. People are beginning to travel more, taking advantage of how easy it has become to do so. If you are one such wanderer, you are probably in between your last adventure and planning for the next one. Here’s one way to stay inspired until your next trip.

At Wildr, we are motivated to help our readers reconnect with nature. That’s why we are putting together a series of interviews for Travel Tuesdays. Our aim is to post one interview with a travel enthusiast every Tuesday so our audience can thrive off of their experiences.

This week, we’re talking to award-winning travel blogger Lucy Ruthnum, who has extensively traveled across Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Read further to learn what questions we asked her and what she had to say.

1. If you had 10 days to live, what travel itinerary would you build with them?
2. Which are your five most favorite beaches in the world?
3. Who’s the most interesting person you’ve met when traveling? Tell us the story of how you met them.
4. What’s the most adrenaline-pumping experience that you’ve had when traveling?

1. If you had 10 days to live, what travel itinerary would you build with them?

If I had 10 days to live, I would want total travel immersion in a new culture. I would love to travel to India and I know the app has an amazing selection of places to visit and stay in India. I would want to pick out the most unique accommodations I could find, from safari camping to eco-lodges. Along the way I would want to spend a day on safari in the jungle, head to the mountains to go trekking and hiking through the jungles. Perhaps exploring somewhere where I could experience real Indian culture before finishing the trip with a few days of yoga in the mountains.

2. Which are your five most favorite beaches in the world?

My favorite beaches in the world would have to be Ile Aux Cerfs, a tiny island off the coast of Mauritius, think untouched tropical paradise. The vast emptiness and natural beauty of the beaches in Western Australia where you wouldn’t bump into a single soul all day. And of course, the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka.

3. Who’s the most interesting person you’ve met when traveling? Tell us the story of how you met them.

The most interesting person I met while traveling had to be my boyfriend. We met in Western Australia and within a few dates decided to go traveling up the West Coast together. I’d never dreamed I would be lucky enough to meet someone as passionate about traveling as myself, let alone someone I could share my adventures with. We lived in a car and camped wild on the beaches, then later traveled parts of Asia including Sri Lanka together.

We now live in Hamburg, Germany, together while planning our next adventure.

4. What’s the most adrenaline-pumping experience that you’ve had when traveling?

The most adrenaline-pumping adventure I’ve had while traveling had to be swimming with whale sharks in Western Australia. Not only was it a super eco-friendly trip, but we were surrounded by the beautiful creatures which ranged up to 9m long! We were also surrounded by huge rays, dolphins, jellyfish, and fish of all sizes, we even saw turtles and a shark! Most amazing day ever!
